The rationale is to implement policies, strategies and guidelines on compliance and enforcement, Implement Monitoring, Control and Surveillance capture fisheries and Manage patrols to protect fisheries resource;

 Functions:

1. Implement policies, strategies and guidelines on compliance and enforcement;

2. Implement Monitoring, Control and Surveillance capture fisheries;

3. Manage patrols to protect fisheries resource;

4. Fishing Vessel boarding and inspection;

5. Manage fisheries electronic information system and all e-based systems;

6. Develop sea and inland water fisheries compliance and enforcement plans;

7. Establish networks for intelligence gathering and information sharing;

8. Promote and enforce compliance with the FMD Act 2016 and other regional and international instruments;

9. Develop fisheries compliance, law enforcement protocols and standard operating procedures;

10. Liaise with other relevant institutions, private sector and other stakeholders on compliance and enforcement issues;

11. Benchmark with international best practices in the area of compliance and enforcement;

12. Manage Fisheries patrol vessels; and

13. Build capacity of relevant collaborating stakeholders.
