Fisheries Management and Operations Department 

The rationale of this department is to initiate development and review of policies, strategies, standards, management plans, guidelines on sustainable utilization of fisheries and Coordinate Capture fisheries regional offices. 

b) Functions: 

i. Initiate development and review of policies, strategies, standards, management plans, and guidelines on sustainable utilization of fisheries; 

ii. Coordinate Capture fisheries regional offices; 

iii. Coordinate fishing licensing; 

iv. Implement regional and international fisheries management on straddling and highly migratory fish stocks; 

v. development of management plans for trans-boundary fisheries resources;

vi. Implement regional and international fisheries management instruments; 

vii. Coordinate data collection, collation, and analysis; and 

viii. Coordinate conservation and restoration of fisheries resources. 

The Department is further organized into the following two (2) divisions namely: 

(i) Fisheries Resource Monitoring; and 

(ii) Fisheries Resource Governance.
